The Virtues and Vices of Our Time / 300 Years Later
From December 2024 to the end of March 2025, the exhibition Virtues and Vices of Our Time / 300 Years Later by Matyáš Chochola is on display at EPO1. The author, one of the most eclectic artists of the contemporary Czech art scene, has reinterpreted twelve allegories inspired by the sculptures of Matyáš Bernard Braun from Kuks. Using concrete 3D printing, he has created sculptures with a totemic and symbolic character that reflect the chaos and value ambivalence of our time.
The individual works have no fixed definitions, their interpretation is left to the viewer, who can see in them archetypal references of different cultures and epochs – from antiquity to cubism to brutalism. The exhibition is conceived as a temporary installation, with the plan to place the sculptures in a public space where they can interact with their surroundings.
